In spring 2026, the Frist Art Museum presented In Her Place: Nashville Artists in the Twenty First Century, a landmark exhibition that highlighted the prominent position of contemporary women artists in Music City and beyond. The exhibition’s catalogue, published in partnership with Vanderbilt University Press, charts this network of women artists working at a high caliber in Nashville through scholarly essays, a chronology of Nashville’s art scene, and more. Join exhibition cocurators Katie Delmez, Sai Clayton, and Shaun Giles, and exhibition catalogue coeditor Laura Hutson Hunter at the Southern Festival of Books for a panel discussion about the significance of this groundbreaking exhibition and book.
