New exhibitions now open!

Two companion exhibitions celebrating David C. Driskell, his contemporaries, and the legacy of Fisk University’s art department, open this Friday in the Upper-Level Galleries. David C. Driskell & Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, and Friendship emphasizes interconnectedness in Driskell’s artistic journey and his relationships with fellow artists. Kindred Spirits: Intergenerational Forms of Expression, 1966–1999 explores the legacy and influence of Fisk University’s art department, which Driskell led from 1966 to 1976. Featuring more than 120 artworks from over 40 prominent African American artists, the exhibitions together celebrate the reverberating impact of a prolific artistic community.

Know a teen who’s interested in filmmaking?

We are excited to partner again with the Nashville Film Festival to offer a fast-paced Film Camp where teens will learn from experienced industry professionals to create a short film, from concept to completion, all in one week!

Working in small production teams, teens will develop a concept, script, shot list, and production plan and learn how to perform several production and/or acting roles, shoot a five-minute film using professional gear provided by Contrast Cine, and craft a polished final edit.
