The Frist Art Museum is a nonprofit art exhibition center dedicated to presenting the finest visual art from local, state, and regional artists, as well as major US and international exhibitions. The Frist occupies Nashville’s former main post office building, a 124,400-square-foot facility with nearly 40,000 square feet of exhibition space. The city’s treasured art deco building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Frist Art Museum’s building sits on land that Cherokee and Shawnee Native peoples, elders, and their ancestors call their homeland. We acknowledge and pay respect to them. We also acknowledge and offer deep gratitude to the ancestral land and water that support us.

The Frist Art Museum is a place for inspiration, learning, and enjoyment. Please help us maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for all.

FAQ

Visit our FAQ page for information on where to park, our photography policy, accessibility, and more.

Parking

Parking in Frist Art Museum lots is reserved for Frist Art Museum visitors, volunteers, and staff only. It is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Frist Art Museum parking is accessible from Demonbreun Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. The Guest Lot is adjacent to the south side of the building, with the entrance kiosk located near Demonbreun Street. We will provide you with a validation coupon when you check in at Membership or purchase admission at Guest Services.

There are accessible parking spaces in the northeast corner of the lot, with a barrier-free crosswalk and entry into the Turner Courtyard at the entrance marked with an accessibility sign.

Nashville is buzzing! Tourist season is upon us, and our extremely popular exhibitions combined with an increase in the number of visitors, fills our parking lot much of every day. If you do find our lots full, there is a parking lot on Tenth Avenue directly across the street from Cummins Station. There is also parking available in the Gateway Parking Lot behind Union Station, accessible from an entrance just past The Finch restaurant (formerly Flying Saucer) on Tenth Avenue. Unfortunately, the Frist does not control these lots so we are not able to validate the tickets for a discounted rate.

The Nashville Downtown Partnership offers a great interactive parking map for finding parking near the museum.

Parking lot hours

Visitor parking begins 30 minutes before the museum’s doors open. The lot closes at 3:00 a.m. No cars are allowed in the lot between 3:00 a.m. and 30 minutes before opening.

We encourage carpooling and using rideshare services. You may also want to consider using MTA’s Park & Ride service.

Parking rates

Frist Art Museum visitors: $2 per hour / $20 daily maximum
Frist Art Museum non-visitors: $10 per hour / $30 daily maximum
(Credit cards only; no cash accepted)

A flat rate parking fee may apply for certain special events.
