Hoping to return art to the innocence they associated with the Medieval era, the Pre-Raphaelites attained a vision of feminine beauty, spirituality, and morality that continues to astonish with its clarity and viruosity. Tate’s unsurpassed collection includes masterpieces by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, and Ford Madox Brown.
The Pre-Raphaelite Dream was organized by Tate in association with the Frist Art Museum, and was seen in the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The Frist Art Museum was its only U.S. venue.
