The Frist Art Museum worked in partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s Family Resource Centers – St. Luke’s, Northeast, Cayce and Woodbine Community Organization – to develop murals that recognize and honor the rich history of each neighborhood.

Led by local teaching artists, the youths visualized their lives and community history through their murals.

After the exhibition, each work of art was installed in the respective community center as a permanent visual record by youth of their neighborhood’s own unique chapter in Nashville history.
