The most important space in a Hindu home is the shrine room. It is a place reserved for reverence and meditation, a sacred space for honoring and worshipping the gods.
Hinduism gives its 950 million followers the freedom to worship in many ways and forms. Daily devotional practices offer meaning and provide balance to daily life.
This exhibition placed Hindu home worship into a context and connected to our local community by showing photographs of home shrines in Nashville, exploring the objects and rituals of worship at home, and re-creating a home shrine for visitors to discover.
