With this sculptural installation, Brooklyn artist Gregory Barsamian creates a visionary realm where elements are trapped in a state of constant transformation – hands become birds, and ghostly figures issue forth from sleeping heads.
Barsamian’s large, kinetic sculptures are inspired by a 19th-century device called a zoetrope, in which sequentially arranged images spin rapidly to produce the optical illusion of continuous movement. Organized by the Schmidt Bingham Gallery.
