New York artist Liz Quisgard is fascinated by the beauty and universality of patterns. Her paintings and sculptures, depicting architectural elements such as doorways, arches, and columns, are completely covered in elaborate geometric decorations. These motifs evoke such precedents as Islamic tilework, Tantric painting, and Persian rugmaking, but have a hypnotic intensity that is wholly their own.
