American Women Artists (AWA) is hosting its annual Symposium of Women in the Arts at the Frist Art Museum this year in conjunction with the Frist Art Museum exhibition In Her Place. AWA is excited to host the symposium at the museum in honor of this important exhibition. The April 25, 2026, symposium is open to the public free of charge. Registration is required.
The Symposium of Women in the Arts is part of a four day event entitled In the Company of Women hosted by American Women Artists from April 22 through 26, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, with a special exhibition reception and awards ceremony in Clarksville, Tennessee. Guests will come together to inspire, celebrate, and encourage women in the visual arts through a thoughtfully curated four-day experience.
Two of the events are free and open to the public:
The exhibition Of Mark & Meaning opens February 13, 2026, and will conclude with a closing reception and awards ceremony on April 24, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Annual Symposium for Women in the Arts will take place on April 25, 2026, from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. The symposium will feature keynote speaker Sharon Louden, renowned artist, author, and arts organizer, who will speak on her book series, Sustaining a Creative Life. This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
Additional In the Company of Women events are for AWA members only, but AWA welcomes you to join if you are not already a member.
