As part of the Annual Symposium for Women in the Arts, which this year is being held at the Frist Art Museum and is hosted by the American Women Artists organization in conjunction with the Frist Art Museum exhibition In Her Place, we invite you to join us for an inspiring and immersive experience celebrating women in the visual arts.

Whether you are an artist seeking the next step in your career or simply want to celebrate the accomplishments of your fellow women artists, this is a unique opportunity to be inspired, gain knowledge, find fellowship, and experience some of the region’s finest cultural offerings alongside like-minded creators.

In the Company of Women is a retreat for members of American Women Artists, taking place from April 22 through 26, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, with a special exhibition reception and awards ceremony in Clarksville, Tennessee. We will come together to inspire, celebrate, and encourage women in the visual arts through a thoughtfully curated four-day experience.

The exhibition Of Mark & Meaning opens February 13, 2026, and will conclude with a closing reception and awards ceremony on April 24, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The Annual Symposium for Women in the Arts will take place on April 26, 2026, from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. The symposium will feature keynote speaker Sharon Louden, renowned artist, author, and arts organizer, who will speak on her book series, Sustaining a Creative Life.
