Before the Opening Conversation on The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse from the Dallas Museum of Art, begin the evening in the Grand Lobby with a live operatic performance from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Presented by the Nashville Opera, the program features acclaimed soprano Sarah Antell accompanied by pianist Stephen Carey, offering an elegant and engaging musical prelude to the evening’s conversation and themes.


About the Performers

Sarah Antell

Sarah Antell is an Ojibwe Mezzo-Soprano from Phoenix, Arizona, whose love for storytelling and connection shines both on and off the stage. Antell has enjoyed sharing her voice through outreach and performances all over the United States, including with Cleveland Opera Theater, the Nashville Opera, and Opera Louisiane. Offstage, Antell is a passionate photographer, capturing the rehearsal process and everyday moments of an opera singer’s life, which she shares through her social media.

Stephen Carey

Pianist Stephen Carey is in his fourth season with Nashville Opera, where he is the director of education and engagement and chorusmaster. Carey has previously worked for Fort Worth Opera and Opera Memphis, as well as with the opera programs at the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University. Carey has also served on the artistic staffs of opera festivals such as AIMS in Graz, Opera in the Ozarks, Charlottesville Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre.
