Clark Terry, renowned as one of the most exceptional jazz musicians in history, showcased his versatility across various musical domains. From his contributions in the trumpet sections of the Basie and Ellington bands to his studio orchestra engagements and standout performances as a featured soloist in small ensembles, Terry’s prowess knew no bounds. Moreover, he left an indelible mark as a distinguished composer and educator.

We are privileged to welcome trumpeter Rod McGaha, a direct student and protégé of Clark Terry, to illuminate the life and music of this jazz legend at our upcoming Jazz On The Move event. McGaha, an accomplished artist in his own right, boasts collaborations with esteemed acts such as Take 6 and Max Roach, in addition to numerous recordings as a leader.

The event is free and includes admission to Frist Art Museum galleries and discounted parking in the Frist visitor parking lots. Space in the auditorium is limited and seating is available on a first-come, first-seated basis. Seats not filled by ten minutes before show time will be filled by those waiting to enter the auditorium.
