The Frist loves families! On a selected Sunday each month, join us for special kid-friendly programming, family tours, and multisensory gallery experiences. 


Schedule of Events


Sensory-Friendly Hour: noon–1:00 p.m.  

Explore the museum during a Sensory-Friendly Hour from noon to 1:00 p.m., when sound levels are lowered throughout the exhibitions and Martin ArtQuest. 


Multisensory Exploration Station: noon–4:00 p.m.  

A Multisensory Exploration Station is available in the galleries and offers opportunities for visitors of all ages to touch, smell, and listen to materials and objects of varying textures, aromas, and sounds that relate to the featured exhibition. 


Family ARTlab: 1:00–4:00 p.m. 

Check out a drop-in Family ARTlab in Studio A! Create your very own monster sculpture inspired by the shapes and creatures found in artist Joan Miró’s artwork, which is featured in International Surrealism from Tate: Fifty Years of Dreams.  


Family Tours: 1:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. 

Family Tours begin at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Ingram Gallery information desk. 

Martin ArtQuest is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Get creative and explore interactive art-making stations where you can try painting, printmaking, animation, and more!
