Frist Fridays Presented by Fifth Third Bank
Features Special Guest Pam Tillis

“Cleopatra, Queen of Denial” performs at August 25th Frist Fridays concert at the Frist Center

NASHVILLE, TENN. – (July 3, 2006) – Priceless Egyptian artifacts meet country music. Some would say “worlds collide.” Others would agree that only in Nashville could the confluence of music and art happen in such spectacular fashion. And it will happen Friday, August 25, 2006, as Grammy winner Pam Tillis and her band take the stage in the Turner Courtyard at The Frist Center’s popular Frist Fridays event. Frist Fridays begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 9:00 p.m.

With The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt continuing to enthrall thousands of Frist Center visitors with its monumental artifacts, mummies and more,
Tillis’ wry, 1992 hit “Cleopatra, Queen of Denial,” will set the stage for what is expected to be one of the biggest Frist Fridays events yet.

Convention & Visitors Bureau National Contest
In conjunction with The Quest for Immortality and the Pam Tillis’ Frist Fridays appearance, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) has created a national online contest to find the next “Cleopatra, Queen of Denial.” Visitors who log on to the NCVB website – http://www.visitmusiccity.com/visitors – between July 5 and August 5, 2006 can register for the contest and answer in 60 words or less why they should win the title of Cleopatra, Queen of Denial. The winner and one guest will receive two round-trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines, a two-night hotel stay at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, a VIP tour for two of The Quest for Immortality, two tickets to Frist Fridays, two Music City Star Cards good for complimentary admission to over 25 Nashville attractions, and a Music City Welcome Kit upon arrival.

“The Quest for Immortality is such a big part of our summer here in Nashville, and we wanted to have some fun with the Egyptian theme,” says Deana Ivey, Senior Vice President of Marketing at the NCVB. “We’re hoping to see some creative contest entries and give one winner and their guest a great opportunity to experience Music City events and attractions.”

Vacation packages to Nashville and The Quest for Immortality can also be purchased through the NCVB website, http://www.visitmusiccity.com/visitors, or by calling 800-657-6910.

Pam Tillis has been a formidable force in country music since her first single hit the charts in 1990. She has racked up 14 Top Five hits including six that hit #1, and has sold over five million records. An accomplished songwriter, her compositions have been recorded by artists as varied as Chaka Khan, Martina McBride, Highway 101, Juice Newton and Conway Twitty. She was awarded the coveted “Female Vocalist of the Year” by the CMA in 1994. In 1999 Pam Tillis showed her trademark versatility by becoming the first female country entertainer to ever star in a Broadway Musical when she appeared in “Smokey Joe’s Café.” Pam was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2000.

Presented as a joint production with the Frist Center and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, Pam Tillis’ appearance is a special treat for Frist Fridays patrons. “We’re having fun with this spectacular exhibition,” says Susan Edwards, executive director of the Frist Center. “Having Pam Tillis perform at Frist Fridays is such a thrill for us. It seemed appropriate to have ‘The Queen of Denial’ here during the run of The Quest for Immortality.”
