The Frist Art Museum is proud to offer paid internships and one fellowship for college students, recent graduates, and graduate students. Offering paid opportunities for college students to gain experience in a museum career is a priority of the museum’s Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) implementation plan. The goals are to reflect our community, develop engagement with and investment in the Frist Art Museum, and establish a pipeline and provide leadership training for diverse museum professionals.

Below are brief descriptions of each opportunity, with links to the requirements.

Internships

The Frist Art Museum’s internship program introduces college students to the many career pathways within a noncollecting art museum. Internships are offered to currently enrolled students and recent graduates, with internship periods coinciding with the fall and spring semesters and summer break. Preference is given to juniors and seniors majoring in art education, art history, business, communications, design, education, fine arts, museum studies, and/or related areas, and recent graduates with degrees in these fields.

Fellowship

The Frist Art Museum’s fellowship is a paid opportunity. It is intended to introduce a student or emerging professional to the process of researching, planning, and realizing an exhibition during the academic year. Fellowships are open to college seniors, recent graduates who intend to continue to graduate school, and graduate students. Preferred areas of concentration include art education, art history, education, fine arts, museum studies, and/or related fields.
