Presented by Brian Somerville

Participants in this Teen ARTlab will create small narrative sculptures using a special commercial carving mixture. Images and textures will be added with custom stamps, found objects, and a variety of tools and sculpting techniques.

About the Teaching Artist

Brian Somerville creates beasts. His intricate creations are layered with humor and personal symbolism. Through exhibitions, live sculpting performances, and workshops, his work explores human relationships and the beast within us all.

For the past twenty years, Brian has used his skills and knowledge to build a career as an artist and fabricator. He has worked on creative projects at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, Great Wolf Lodge, Six Flags, Ole Red, Maker’s Mark, Patron, Lexus, and zoos in Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, Birmingham, and Miami.
