Listen to the sounds of Scotland and learn more about its rich cultural heritage during this day of performances in the Turner Courtyard. Inspired by the exhibition Designing the New: Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow Style, Nashville Pipes and Drums will present fifteen-minute performances at the top of each hour, accompanied by Highland dancers. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a performance before or after seeing Designing the New in our galleries (tickets required for gallery admission).
About Nashville Pipes and Drums
The Nashville Pipes and Drums has been Middle Tennessee’s premier bagpipe band since 1984. The band exists to preserve and grow the musical tradition of the Great Highland Bagpipe and Scottish drumming in Nashville. We draw on the rich cultural heritage of Scotland’s national instrument and Scottish military pipe bands. We are passionate about fostering interest in this tradition and provide a robust program of free lessons. Our classes are taught by volunteer instructors from our band, who represent some of the best players in our region.
