During this workshop, explore illuminated manuscripts in bibles, choirbooks, and law books that give insight into medieval life in the city of Bologna, home to the oldest university in Europe and the most important center for manuscript illumination in Italy.
Vanderbilt professor Elizabeth Moodey will give a talk about the history and purpose of medieval manuscripts, and the Nashville Calligraphers Guild will facilitate an illuminated letter activity. Participants will also receive teaching materials and discuss curriculum connections.
