Join us for a talk by Memphis artist Yancy Villa, the 2022–23 recipient of Austin Peay State University’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) Tennessee Artist Fellowship, which celebrates contemporary art and supports the continued creative work of exceptional Tennessee artists.


About the artist

Villa is a socially engaged artist and civic design consultant who seeks to create awareness, engage in conversation, and encourage action in spatial justice, civic culture, and community prosperity. Villa was awarded the 2020–22 Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Prize and Fellowship. In 2019, she was recognized by Leadership Memphis as one of 40 Change Makers Who Have Made Memphis Better in the Past 40 Years. Internationally, the Mexican Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Culture has recognized her as an artist working on binational art initiatives for public diplomacy.
