Presented by Jill Anderson

Cost: $35 members; $55 not-yet-members (includes gallery admission and parking)

Join us for a cozy and creative workshop inspired by the exhibition Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Participants will learn about some basic quilt blocks and the essential parts of a quilt—such as the top, batting, and backing—and how they come together to create both beauty and function. Then, using a basic hand-stitching technique, participants will quilt their own potholders. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a beautiful, functional piece of art for your kitchen. (The photo of potholders resembles the final product, but ours will vary.)

About Jill Anderson

Literature professor, aspiring archivist, passionate potter, and lifelong sewist Jill E. Anderson is fascinated by the nonhuman world and endlessly inspired by color, texture, and patterns—especially when it comes to animals, flowers, fruits and veggies, trees, fungus, and anything completely out of the ordinary. Creating with your hands is deeply powerful, and quilting is radical in its roots—transforming leftovers into something lasting, useful, beautiful, and one of a kind. Anderson is enthusiastic about making space for everyone to create with confidence and purpose.
