Music at the Frist: Choro Nashville
Grand Lobby ~ Member Preview
Choro Nashville is dedicated to the genre known as Choro or Chorinho, which emerged in the 19th century and today still influences much of Brazil’s best-known music. Choro is often compared to American ragtime, with a mixture of improvisation and composition played to an energetic and syncopated rhythm.
Choro Nashville is led by Chris Moran (guitar and bandolim) who brings a stellar group of musicians to every Choro Nashville performance. Recent performances have included Larry Seeman on seven-string guitar and cavaquinho, Carlos Ruiz and Adam Anderson on percussion, Alexa Voytek on violin, Laura Bouffard on clarinet, Will Barrow on accordion, and Jonah Kraut on guitar.
