Get your tickets for the next Frist Friday!

Celebrating the enduring legacy of local HBCU art programs as seen in our current exhibitions Kindred Spirits and David C. Driskell & Friends, this Frist Friday is a toast to creativity, collaboration, and community on campus. Break out your smartest looks and come dance, mingle, and make art! Don’t miss a one-night-only exhibition-inspired DJ set by Michael Ewing, the Frist’s associate curator, enjoy artist-led activities in Martin ArtQuest with Dominique “YOUNIQUE” Coleman, and more!

Frist Community Art Teachers (CATs) are on the move!

As roving art ambassadors, our CATs have been all over town expanding art education outside of our museum walls. The current team of experienced teaching artists—Hannah EinhornJoshua Lewis, and Ashley Mayfield—work with community partners off-site and lead Art Trunk activities, which include mobile art-making kits and lesson plans. Community Engagement Director Shaun Giles says the goal is to break down the barriers that impact art accessibility in a changing city by providing enriching art opportunities for all. Since November 2024, the CATs have worked with 38 community partners and taught approximately 630 participants in more than 50 workshops with many more scheduled!

🎨The Mayor’s Art Show Spotlights Student Creativity

Don’t miss the chance to see the amazing student artwork featured in the 2025 Mayor’s Art Show. On display now in the free Upper-Level Education Gallery, the show features the work of artists from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

We’re proud to work with Metro Nashville Public Schools as well as many other middle Tennessee school districts to present the work of talented young artists from across our community. On view through April 27.
