Join teaching artist Mirrah Johnson at either Conexión Américas or Studio NPL at Bordeaux Public Library to collaborate on an art installation on mental health awareness. These ARTlabs will open with discussions led by a mental health professional, with participants developing content for the project. Then, with Johnson’s guidance, participants will translate their visual thinking into a group artwork that will be on display and celebrated in the community later this year.

Mirrah Johnson (mirrahjohnson.com) is an artist and educator from rural Tennessee. She earned her BFA in Fibers from Tennessee Tech and studied extensively at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, where she taught teens in the outreach program. Now a resident of Nashville, Johnson creates couture clothing and teaches youth and adults in the community. In her words, when she makes art, “I am intentionally telling stories, depicting memories, invoking nostalgia, and revealing identities.”
