Art-Making in the Lobby: Wax Wonderland

First Center Grand Lobby ~ FREE

Thursday and Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (except during member previews) Frist Art Museum visitors are encouraged to create artwork developed in response to our current exhibitions. Art-Making in the Lobby is free and open to all visitors.

Visitors are invited to create unique displays of artwork associated with the exhibition Ana Maria Tavares: Deviating Utopias, which will be on display Oct. 11, 2013–Jan. 12, 2014 in the Gordon Contemporary Artists Project Gallery. Ana Maria Tavares' s work commonly conveys emotions of floating and falling, meditating, and the co-existence of real and virtual. Through Art-Making in the Lobby guests can create window décor that resembles stained glass. These utopian-based wax creations display the same emotional appeal and values as expressed in the exhibition. Wax paper, crayons and other supplies will be provided.
